Tech & Standards — “Alarm Systems, Sensors and the 2025 NFPA Updates: How Technology is Rewriting Fire Preparedness”
Fire-safety technology evolved fast in 2024–25: the 2025 edition of major alarm and signaling codes introduces updates on detection technologies, documentation and system cybersecurity. For organisations, this means fire risk assessments must now consider not just whether alarms exist, but whether detection types are appropriate, monitoring is resilient, and maintenance records are held to the new code expectations. Integration between active systems (alarms, sprinklers) and building management or evacuation notification platforms is now a critical part of modern assessments. In short: the assessment that ignores alarm-system design, testing and cyber-resilience in 2025 is incomplete. Updating assessments to reflect these technical code changes reduces false alarms, improves evacuation reliability and supports legal compliance. Mytek Proscsemag.com
